Remembering Hindi cinema’s favourite aunty, Shammi, on her 6th death anniversary (06/03/18).

Shammi was a popular actress for funny roles in movies from 1949 to 1969 and then from 1980 to 2002. She played important side roles in well-known movies like “Dil Apna Aur Preet Parai,” “Half Ticket,” “Halaku,” “Samaj Ko Badal Dalo,” “Khuda Gawah,” “Coolie №1,” “Gopi Kishan,” and “Hum Saath Saath Hain.” She also acted in movies with Rajesh Khanna such as “The Train,” “Aanchal,” “Kudrat,” “Red Rose,” “Awara Baap,” and “Swarg.” From 1949 to 1955, she was the main actress or the second main actress in some Hindi films. Later, from 1986 to 1998, she was in famous TV shows like “Dekh Bhai Dekh,” “Zabaan Sambhal Ke,” “Shriman Shrimati,” “Kabhi Yeh Kabhi Woh,” and “Filmi Chakkar.” Shammi is also the younger sister of the fashion designer Mani Rabadi.
