Remembering David Abraham Cheulkar, one of the finest character actors of Hindi cinema, on his 110th birth anniversary. (21/06)

David Abraham Cheulkar belonged to the class of actors respected by his peers, remembered by the audience, but forgotten by the industry. In a career spanning four decades, David played mostly character roles, starting with 1941 film Naya Sansar, and went on to act in over 100 films, including memorable films like Chupke Chupke (1975), Khatta Meetha (1978), Gol Maal (1979), Baton Baton Mein (1979) and Boot Polish (1954), for which he was awarded the Filmfare Best Supporting Actor Award.

He was also known as a star anchor, compere, and host of the leading award shows and other celebrity functions.
