Om Puri was one of the most skilled, most versatile actors of all time in India. Om Puri along with Naseeruddin Shah, Smita Patil, Shabana Azmi, was one of the major pillars of the new wave of Indian cinema in the ’70s and ’80s.
Om Puri came into his own in Indian cinema with ‘Ardh Satya’ and with his screen presence and dialogue delivery strode parallel and mainstream cinema with ease.
He will be remembered as a great versatile actor, and one of the few to break into international cinema. He has done some incredible work in international films and has been very much appreciated for his roles.
With a body of work so vast and countless memorable roles, Om Puri left the cinema industry a little poorer as he died on January 6 this year.
