A loner, a seeker and the disciple of Ustad Ali Akbar Khan, music director Jaidev brought immense soulfulness and substance to Hindi film music. Without the support of big production houses, he managed to win three National Awards, and left in his wake, songs that haunt us, stir us, move us and fill us with pathos and sweetness and nostalgia.
Jaidev, who gave us unforgettable songs in Hum Dono, Gharonda, Dooriyan, Ankahee, Alaap, Reshma Aur Shera, Mujhe Jeene Do, Do Boond Pani, Gaman, Prem Parbat and many more films, was never given his due in his lifetime.
