51 Years of Yash Chopra’s Daag (27/04/1973). Produced and directed by Yash Chopra in his debut as a producer, the film laid the foundation of Yash Raj Films. Story by Gulshan Nanda Dialogue by Akhtar-Ul-Iman. It is an adaptation of the 1886 Thomas Hardy novel, The Mayor of Casterbridge. The movie features Rajesh Khanna, Sharmila Tagore, and Raakhee in lead roles, with supporting actors Madan Puri, Kader Khan, Prem Chopra, Master Raju and A.K. Hangal. Daag was made at the height of Rajesh Khanna’s popularity and became a blockbuster at the box office. Songs by Laxmikant Pyarelal and Sahir Ludhianvi.
