With music by Laxmikant-Pyarelal and lyrics by Anand Bakshi, its popularity spread beyond India, drawing 62.6 million viewers in the Soviet Union, where it ranks among the top 20 box office hits. “Bobby” set a trend in Bollywood with its teenage romance amidst class conflict, inspiring many films. It was even remade in Persian as “Parvaz dar Ghafas.”
